CTV News caught up with some of our Maritime Officials on the road

MARITIME REFEREES MAKE IT BIG

The Maritime provinces is a region of Eastern Canada consisting of Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. The word “maritimes” which means “of the sea” has been collectively associated with these three provinces as they all border the Atlantic Ocean. Although the Maritimes only accounts for 5% of the Canadian population, the Maritime officials in the NHL represent 10% of the officiating crew which also includes Americans and a Russian official. It would be fair to say that east coast referees and linesmen have made their mark on today’s NHL.
