Every year, the CHL league hosting the Memorial Cup puts together a 3 day officiating seminar in conjunction with the NHL. This year the QMJHL will be hosting the Cup and as such was pleased to host 16 CHL officiating prospects. The camp was held in Laval, QC under the direction of QMJHL Director of Officiating Richard Trottier, an NHLOA alum.

The young officials had a chance to work QMJHL games during the 3 day camp and be supervised by NHL Officiating managers Al Kimmel and Dan McCourt. Also in attendance were representatives of the OHL, Director of Officiating Conrad Hache, another NHLOA alum and WHL Director of Officiating Kevin Muench.

The Officials also benefited from the presence of NHL Officials fitness guru Dave Smith who briefed them on fitness and nutrition.

Linesman Pierre Racicot and referees Dan O'Halloran and Ghislain Hebert sat down with the group for a few hours and discussed important topics as communication and the evolution of officiating at the NHL Level.
