Sophie and her family meet the officials before a game in Vancouver

Published: December 21, 2019

On the afternoon of December 7th, prior to the Buffalo Sabers at Vancouver Canucks game, the officials were joined in the dressing room by Sophie along with her parents and little brother for a Zebras Care visit. The family was excited to get an inside look at an NHL game day! Sophie and her brother were welcomed by the referees and linesman with a bag of gifts. Included, among other things, was a hat, referees jersey, and a game puck autographed by the 4 officials working that day. A knowledgeable hockey family, there was a really good Q & A with the officials in the locker room, followed by a group photo. The family was then lead down the tunnel by the officials to the zamboni entrance, where Sophie and her brother were very excited to touch the ice, stepping a foot onto the same surface that the game is played on. They were then joined by grandparents for one more group photo with the officials in front of the rink before making there way to watch warmups, and eventually the afternoons game. It was great meeting Sophie and her family and we wish them all the best!
